Job Description:
Administers the hospital's compensation and benefits programs
for assigned units, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all
information. Provides advisory and consultative services.
Responsible for the daily processes to analyze, present,
communicate and interpret the employee benefit plans including, the
Hospital's Retirement, Health and Wellness Plans.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
1) Assists with the preparation, analysis, presentation and
interpretation of data for benefit audits, reports, rate and
benefit changes and special projects.
2) Communicates policy and procedure changes to employees,
department heads, vendors, and other parties as necessary.
Initiates communication to enhance service.
3) Meets with employees to facilitate the benefit process.
Communicates applications of benefit provisions in a clear, concise
manner to all customers and obtains/reviews proper documentation
and signatures to process benefit enrollment or changes.
4) Troubleshoots and resolves quickly problems related to
compensation or benefits for employees, informs them of delays.
5) Ensures follow through for terminating employees on designated
benefits including life insurance conversion, COBRA, retirement,
etc.
6) Assists with gathering and communicating information necessary
to the payment of claims under the life insurance plans.
7) Prepares and distributes performance management related reports
to management staff. Provides assistance, investigates problems and
follows up on questions and late appraisals.
8) Assists in the review and renewal of benefit plans. Reviews and
suggests plan alternatives. May participate in vendor selection
process and review of their competence in providing service.
9) Explains options to employees on the 403 (b) plan and obtains
proper signatures and documentation to initiate or change
options.
10) Assists with the preparation of IRS annual 5500 forms and other
government required documents for 403 (b) and other welfare
plans.
11) Designs and runs Benefits Education Program: schedule
presenters and rooms, promote programs through self created flyers,
posters and booklets, emails and directly mailings, maintains
Registration program, reports on participation and participant
appraisals.
12) Organizes the annual employee benefit fairs, coordinates annual
benefits orientation and mini fairs for new House Officers.
13) May assist in conducting new employee orientation portion,
which includes overview of benefits. Ensures forms are thoroughly
and correctly completed and ready for data entry.
14) Maintains current knowledge of benefit plans, rules and
regulations.
15) Assists with committees or projects as necessary.
16) Utilizes hospital's Values as the basis for decision-making and
to facilitate the division's hospital mission.
17) Follows established hospital infection control and safety
procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary. .
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
--- Position requires detailed knowledge and understanding of
Retirement, Health and Wellness plans.
--- Excellent interpersonal skills to provide superb personalized
customer service; has ability to explain required information to
customers in a comprehensible manner.
--- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict, and develop practical
solutions.
--- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of personal initiative
to achieve goals and objectives.
--- Excellent organizational skills, including ability to
multi-task, prioritize essential tasks and the ability to manage
time effectively.
--- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.
