mission.OBJECTIVE
- Help us make safer drugs - The next generation of life changing
medicines include gene therapies, oligonucleotides, and cell
therapies all honed to treat previously untreatable diseases. Help
us shape this next generation of life-saving medicines by improving
the therapeutics selected for further development based on
proactive detection & de-risking of dose limiting toxicities.
- Deliver decision-making data - Conduct state of the art in
vitro assays to detect & de-risk cardiovascular and hepatic
toxicities for medicines in discovery & development. Help shape the
evolution of cell & gene therapies to deliver safer & more
effective medicines for patients.
- Develop and validate novel in vitro models - Provide hands on
support for developing and validating novel in vitro models/assays
and biomarkers for safety assessment.ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design and perform fit-for-purpose in vitro assays to test
on/off-target mechanisms of toxicities for drug candidates in
discovery and development stages, with a focus on cardiac and
hepatic toxicities.
- Independently design, validate and execute novel high
throughput cell-based approaches to support compound safety and
research. Use molecular & cellular biology, high content imaging,
and NGS technologies to generate impactful data for project teams
to assess safety of drug candidates. Work closely with project
teams and deliver high quality data for decision-making. -
- Analyze, interpret and present research findings clearly and
effectively at internal and external meetings.
- Responsible for participating and interacting on matrix project
teams and collaborating with investigative toxicologists to make
safer medicines.EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
- Growing group needs scientists with Ph.D. in molecular biology,
cell biology, pharmacology, toxicology or a related discipline with
0-3 years of postdoctoral experience, or MS with 4+ years'
pharmaceutical industry working experience.
- This is a wet lab R&D position, which requires hands-on
technical expertise. Experience with best practices in mammalian
cell culture is required, i.e. cell lines, primary cells, and
iPSC-derived cells. Previous experience with liver and/or
cardiovascular system is highly desirable. -
- Cell and molecular biology skills including development of
reporter assays, application of knock-out, knock-down technologies,
gene expression analysis, and biomarker assay development and
validation. Experience with NGS, bioinformatics tools and high
content imaging is a plus.
- Skilled in the analysis, interpretation, presentation and
documentation of results.
- Experience working in a matrixed team environment at a
pharmaceutical company and/or CRO is required.
- Broad scientific knowledge including pharmacology, toxicology,
pathology, physiology and biochemistry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an
enthusiastic mindset for working in a highly collaborative and
impactful scientific environment. Excellent oral and written skills
