knowledge - ACLS knowledge Description: Unit Information: There are
23 beds with 1 treatment room. The unit is staffed by 58 personnel.
Day shift staff includes: 1 Charge Nurse, 6 Registered Nurses, 2
Patient Care Technicians, 1 Monitor Technician, and 1 Department
Coordinator until 7 PM. Night shift staff includes: 1 Charge Nurse,
5 Registered Nurses, 2 Patient Care Technicians, and 1 Monitor
Technician. Patient ratios are as follows: Day/Eve RNs: 1 nurse to
4 patients Nights: 1 nurse to 5 patients The unit is equipped with
telemetry monitoring systems, some rooms are hard-wired. Available
equipment includes a vein finder for IV therapy, portable pulse
oximetry, continuous oximetry, and both manual and automatic vital
sign monitors. Blood glucose monitoring and mechanical lifts are
also available. The Electronic Medical Record system used is
Allscripts with medication scanning capabilities. The patient
population primarily consists of cardiac patients. This includes
hemodynamically stable myocardial infarction, acute and chronic
heart failure, new onset atrial fibrillation with or without rapid
ventricular response, and stable dysrhythmias. The unit also
manages procedural patients recovering from cardiac
catheterizations (radial or femoral approach) without
interventions, ablations, cardioversions, implantable
cardioverter-defibrillators, pacemakers, medication management, and
those requiring cardiac drips. Additional patient populations may
include ICU transfers, neurological patients, and pulmonary
patients requiring bipap and high-flow oxygen. Typical procedures
performed on the unit include: Cardiac catheterizations (left and
right, femoral and radial approaches) without interventions.
Pacemaker insertions, ablations, cardioversions, and
electrophysiological studies. Management of cardiac drips such as
amiodarone, diltiazem, renal dose dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone,
furosemide, and insulin drips. The ideal candidate will be
engaging, team-oriented, flexible, adaptable, and patient-centered.
Floating within like areas may be required. Every other weekend
commitment is expected. No additional comments.
