Job Description:
We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship
position to help lead an NIH-funded project investigating delivery
of gene therapies to the brain for the treatment of neurological
disorders. Our laboratory uses the technology of focused ultrasound
(FUS) to temporarily disrupt the blood-brain barrier for delivery
of drugs and gene therapies to the brain. This preclinical project
aims to deliver an AAV-packaged micro-RNA therapy targeting the
gene implicated in Huntington's disease. We envision the methods
developed here will be applicable to a range of gene therapy and
neurological disorder combinations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
--- Lead studies to optimize FUS-mediated delivery of AAV vectors
in a mouse model.
--- Design and carry out FUS-BBB opening experiments in mice.
--- Harvest, section, stain, and image brains for markers of
treatment safety and efficacy.
--- Organize and analyze data.
--- Present findings at scientific meetings and publish results in
scientific journals.
START DATE:
Available immediately.
