Director of Facility Operations/Safety OfficerDescription: Responsible for physical plant operations and safety management program for the organization including the physical plant of all sites; provides supervision to all support services including Dietary, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Security and Transportation Departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Construction management or 5 years' experience in management
  • 5 years' experience in building equipment maintenance
    Essential Competencies:
    • Strong communication skills
    • Knowledge of Life Safety Codes and Ability to confirm facility compliance with the Life Safety Code through the management of the Joint Commission's statement of conditions
    • Knowledge of building and equipment maintenance
    • Knowledge of OSHA regulations
    • Familiarity with state and local building codes
    • Ability to read blue prints and floor plans
      Openings: 1 full time
      Location: Brookline, MA will travel to Dedham, Lowell and Woburn#BHS2Essential Functions:
      • Develops and maintains policies and procedures for the Support Services Departments
      • Supervises all maintenance, housekeeping, transportation and dietary staff
      • Develops and periodically updates all building floor plans
      • Manages and periodically reviews all contracts related to the Support Service Departments
      • Develops and maintains the following management plans: safety life safety utilities management security management hazardous communication management medical equipment emergency management plan
        • Develops and maintains all budgets related to Support Services
        • Ensures all facility purchases (excluding medical and office supplies) meet facility standards, and maintains adequate level of inventory.
        • Ensures that all Joint Commission requirements are met that involve the Support Services departments.
        • Performs periodic inspections of the physical plant and grounds to ensure a safe, clean environment for staff, visitors and patients including but not limited to:
        • Inspections of all emergency systems and maintains all pertinent logs.
        • Conducts fire drills in all buildings as scheduled and provides summaries of all drills to the CQI EOC/Safety Committee.
        • Conducts fire safety and hazardous communication training to all new employees during employee orientation and annually thereafter.
        • Ensure that the ongoing safety training program is effective in communicating necessary information.
        • Conducts regular inspections of building and grounds to ensure a safe working environment.
        • Ensures that the Life Safety Code standards are upheld as regulatory changes occur.
        • Ensures that all fire regulations are upheld.
        • Maintains all fire ratings of materials used in the hospital to ensure all materials meet fire code.
        • Maintains and updates all aspects of the Hospital communication equipment, including cabling infrastructure and information system interfaces
        • Member of the Executive Management Team and participates in the other committees as assigned.
        • Coordinates patient transportation
        • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
          Trauma Informed Care
          • Respond to persons served with kindness, respect and compassion
          • Refrain from judgmental and/or punitive responses
          • In case of challenging clients or situations - contact clinical staff as soon as possible for support
            Physical Criteria:
            • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
            • Must be able to run short distances
            • Must be able to stand or sit for up to 8 hours
            • Must be able to climb ladders and steps
              Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
              Supervises: All Support Services staff including: Dietary, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Security and Transportation.
