Systems Resilience and Reliability Summer 2026 Internship or Co-op
- Battery non-destructive testing Join our team for a hands-on
summer internship or summer/fall co-op focused on advancing
next?generation diagnostic techniques for Li?ion cells and battery
packs. This role is ideal for a graduate-level electrical
engineering student excited about applying theory to real systems,
building test setups, analyzing complex data, and contributing to
cutting-edge research in battery health monitoring. Expected time
frame is: 3-month Internship and/or 6-month Co-op. This is a full
time, onsite role located in Norwood, MA. Internship Objective You
will support a series of cell and pack cycling tests and evaluate
the effectiveness of nondestructive diagnostic methods such as
pulse testing and Rapid-EIS (Electrochemical Impedance
Spectroscopy) . This internship offers deep exposure to electrical
engineering principles, data analysis, and experimental lab work
while working directly with advanced battery cyclers and modeling
tools. What You’ll Work On (Project Details) As an FM Research
Intern or Co-op, you will: Learn the operation of battery cyclers
and program them according to detailed test plans. Conduct periodic
nondestructive tests on Li?ion cells to assess State of Power (SoP)
and State of Health (SoH) . Program cyclers to run pulse testing on
cells/packs. Perform equivalent circuit modeling and interpret
model parameters. Process and translate test data into established
battery equivalent circuit models. Support the development and
refinement of test setups and experimental procedures.
Qualifications: Graduate student pursuing MS or PhD in Electrical
Engineering . Strong proficiency in MATLAB and Python . Knowledge
of equivalent circuit modeling and data analysis. Experience with
instrumentation , control systems , and hands-on lab
experimentation. Ability to develop test setups and execute
structured test plans. Preferred: Prior exposure to battery test
equipment or EIS techniques. Familiarity with battery health
